This is a now page, and if you have your own site, you should make one too. Why? So the next time someone hits you with that dreaded question—"so, what's up?"—you don't have to stare blankly into oblivion :) Just hit them back (figuratively) with this link.

the day job

I'm currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Incubyte, and learning something new everyday. It feels real good to work in an environment that values learning and sharing, obsessed with clean code, and questioning the status quo. I'm spending most of my days obsessing over code refactoring, test-driven development, pushing for shift-left mindsets in NestJS.

working on

Trying to move completely off big-tech, one step at a time. I just migrated my entire personal coding setup to a self-hosted Gitea and Coolify instance. It breaks sometimes, and very maddening at most times. But the learning and data control, totally worth it!

I'm also building out actual demos for my System Design Lab so I don't just read about distributed systems all day.

consuming

  • Reading: I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki by Baek Sehee.
Basically a peek into someone else's therapy sessions. Honestly, picked it specifically because the title was quirky but it started to feel a littttle relatable and it does make me feel a bit too seen. Also, I want to try making Tteokbokki now.
  • Playing: Little Nightmares II.
Incredibly stressful than the prequel, but the art direction and story are just too good to put down. (The prequel made me cry for entirely the wrong reasons. You should definitely play it if you're okay with short term panics for hours) If you've already played it, did you know that Six is a girl??? (ikr?!!)
  • Watching: This is Us.
More like This is "the s l o o o o owest show I've ever watched". Story of "the Big Three"—yeah, that's what they call themselves—triplets, as they move through different phases of their lives (well, mostly their mid-life crisis). Wouldn't say it's bad, as it offers lots of takeaways for when life throws the sourest lemons at you—"I like to think that one day you'll be an old man like me talking a young man's ear off explaining to him how you took the sourest lemon that life has to offer and turned it into something resembling lemonade. If you can do that, then maybe you...."

When (okay, if...) I finally hit my absolute limit of screens at work, I go touch grass. No, for real! I'm trying to grow my thumb greener by tending to my small and garden. Otherwise, I'm out taking photos of skies and nature with Gcam, or penning down undirected words (* aahem * tasteless poetry) to clear my head.
